Denton, Texas is a great place to live, and if you have an apartment there and you are looking for a really good University to attend, then TWU is your place to go.
Founded in 1901, TWU began as The Girls Industrial College and was renamed Texas Womens University in 1957. The mission of the university is to provide a liberal education and prepare young women "for the practical industries of the age" with specialized education. TWU offers baccalaureate, masters and doctoral degrees. TWU is the largest university for women in the United States, with it's primary campus in Denton, Texas and health science centers in Dallas and Houston. To answer any lingering questions about whether men can attend or not can be answered in the affirmative, they have been allowed to enroll since 1972, and guys: It's a great place to meet women! hahaha!
The admission requirements for TWU are pretty standard. You need to have graduated from a regionally accredited high school. You must have a 2.0 high school GPA on a 4.0 scale. You need to have graduated in the top 50% of your class, and scored a combined 1000 on your math/verbal portion of the SAT or have a 21 ACT score. You will be granted automatic admission to the University IF you are in the top 25% of your class, but you still must submit your SAT/ACT scores for review. If you are admitted and decided to attend classes, your tuition is going cost you about $2,523 for 12 hours of undergraduate classes.
If you are an incoming freshmen, the university recommends but does not require that you live on campus. The rational is that it takes time for a new college student to become adapted to the social and academic challenges of moving to a new location. There are three resident halls, two studio suites, and two campus apartments.

If you choose to live off of campus, the community of Denton is very welcoming and there are plenty of options in apartment living. One of the perks of living off of campus is that you can price shop and sometimes find really great deals on apartment living. Many of the complexes have privacy fences with security gates! Very Cool! A great community, a great school, in a great location!
